You can help the Braille Bindery in two ways:
1. You can support funding by respective State legislatures to address school conditions and instructional techniques that are obstacles to learning to learning for blind children. "Literacy is the cornerstone of all education... Absent literacy, a child has no way to obtain knowledge, communicate with the world, or participate in the institutions and activities of citizenship." Every child, blind or sighted, has to be dedicated to reading, for as it as it takes to achieve.
2. Help make a difference in a child's life by giving them the gift of reading. Transcribing, binding and embossing creates a whole new world for a child without sight by making a book come to life in the Braille language. We are always looking for volunteers to assist one of the longest running free Braille books programs for children in the country. The Braille Bindery is located at Temple Beth El in Bloomfield Hills, Michigan. Our volunteers commit to a few hours a week.
